There are many parks, spread around the city, that will make your Mexico City holiday full of adventures. How many parks are there in Mexico City?
There are at least 7 big city parks in Mexico City. There are also more than 8 national parks in Mexico City. You can also find more than 20 small parks all around the city and even amusement parks.
1. Chapultepec Park (Bosque de Chapultepec)
Chapultepec Park is probably the best park and the most famous in Mexico City. It is huge and has many things to offer. Beautiful trees, many activities, concerts, workshops, and the most important, a breath of fresh air. It is one of the “lungs” of the capital. It is a perfect place to spend the whole day there. You can go for a picnic, make exercises, see a movie, or use it for a first date. It is my favorite park on this list. I love spending my lunch breaks there and many weekends.

Time for exploring Chapultepec Park.
You will need at least a full day to go around the park. If you want to see Chapultepec Castle and The Museum of Anthropology, which is nearby, count at least 1 more day.
How to get to Chapultepec Park?
You can go to Chapultepec by metro (subway) Use Line 1 (Pink Line) and get off the Chapultepec metro station, or Line 7 (Orange Line) get off Auditorio metro station, and walk for 5 minutes from there on Reforma avenue.
Alternatively, you can arrive with Metrobus Line 7 (Dark Green) and get off Atropología station or Chapultepec station.
How much to spend in Chapultepec Park?
The entrance is free. There, you will need around 60 to 100 Mexican pesos per attraction per person. For food, you will need around 150 Mexican pesos per person. So, for 2 people, you can expect from 500 to 700 pesos for a day.
2. Alameda Central Park
Right in the historical center, there is the famous park Alameda Central. It is a really beautiful park, located just on the side of Bellas Artes hole. You can enjoy the beautiful violet color of the jacaranda trees, that are all around, sit and enjoy a pleasant break, or watch the water fountains. There is a little kiosk that many dancers use to practice.
Since it is located downtown, it is usually full of people. This is the reason why you should be attentive. There could be some pickpockets there.
I love to visit first the Churrería el Moro, and then eat the delicious curros on a bench, in front of Bellas Artes.
Time for exploring Alameda Central Park.
2 hours. It is a small park. While you are there, you can see if there is an interesting event in Bellas Artes, or visit the shopping center Sears on the other side of Juarez avenue.
How to get to Alameda Central Park?
You can go to Alameda Central by metro (subway). Use Line 2 (Blue Line) or Line 8 (Green Line) and get off the Bellas Artes metro station.
Alternatively, you can arrive with Metrobus Line 4 (Orange Line) and get off Bellas Artes station.
How much to spend in Alameda Central Park?
The entrance is free. There, you will need around 20 to 100 Mexican pesos to get different things like sweets and cigarettes from random sellers. For food, you will need around 250 Mexican pesos per person if you wish to go to a restaurant nearby. So, for 2 people, you can expect from 500 to 600 pesos for a day.
3. Parque La Mexicana
Parque La Mexicana is one of the newest parks in Mexico City. It was opened in 2017. It is located in the business area of Santa Fe. It takes its name, La Mexicana (The Mexican), from one of the two sand mines that used to be there in Santa Fe. It finally gives the so much-needed park to this business area. Before, if you were in Santa Fe, you could only go around shopping centers, and there was no nature.
The park is huge and there are plenty of attractions for everybody.
In Parque La Mexican you can:

Enjoy a large skate park. The skate park is new and in great condition.

Have a picnic. It is allowed to have a picnic there.

Stroll your dog. The park is huge and your pet will like it too.

Eat at one of the several restaurants. You can find Mexican food and international cuisine too.

Rent a bicycle. Prices start at 1 Mexican peso per minute or 60 Mexican pesos per hour (around 2.85 USD).
Parque La Mexicana has a free admission. It is open every day from 5 am to 10 pm.

6 hours. It is a big park. While you are there, you can walk, have a picnic or visit one of the several restaurants.
How to get to Parque La Mexicana?
It is a bit harder to arrive at Parque La Mexicana, but here you have instructions.
Option 1. Take a metro (subway) and get off the metro station, Balderas. From there, take the bus 34-A and get off at the Glorieta de Luis Barragan.
Option 2. Take a metro (subway) and get off the metro station, Miguel Ángel de Quevedo. From there, take the bus 34-B and get off at the Glorieta Luis Barragán.
Option 3. La Mexicana park has parking. It cost 20 Mexican pesos per hour. You need coins to pay for the parking.
How much to spend in Parque La Mexicana?
The entrance is free. For food, you will need around 300 Mexican pesos per person if you wish to go to a restaurant nearby. So, for 2 people, you can expect 600 pesos for a day.
4. Parque México and Parque España
Both Parque México and Parque España are located next to each other in the neighborhood of Condesa, and this is why we put them together. They are really nice small parks that are ideal for strolling dogs. Parque México is the dog park of Mexico City. All of the foreigners take their dogs out there.
The Condesa area is the hipster part of Mexico City. There you can find all kinds of cool businesses, many Europeans, and a cool vibe. Parque México is a bit bigger and has nice fountains. It is a really good place for your lunch break.

2 hours. They are very small, so you don’t need more than an hour, but if you stay for a coffee, make them 2. While you are there, you can walk, have a coffee or visit one of the several restaurants around.
How to get to Parque México and Parque España?
It is really easy to get to both Parque México and Parque España
- Metro (subway). To get to Parque México and Parque España by metro you will need to use Line 9 (Brown Line) and drop off at Chilpancingo. From there you need to walk around 5 minutes direction north-west and you will arrive. Alternatively, you can use metro Line 1 (Pink Line) and get off at Sevilla metro station. From there, walk south for around 3-5 minutes and you will arrive.
- Metrobus. You can also use Line 1 (Red Line) of Metrobus. Drop off at Metrobus station Campeche and walk for 2-3 minutes west and you will arrive.
How much to spend in Parque México and Parque España?
The entrance is free to both of these Mexico City parks. For food, you will need around 300 Mexican pesos per person if you wish to go to a restaurant nearby. So, for 2 people, you can expect 600 pesos for a day. If you wish to only have a coffee, the price for 2 premium coffees will be around 120 Mexican pesos.

Small parks in Mexico City also worth mentioning
Alameda Del Sur Park
It is a small park in the south part of Mexico City. There are no additional attractions, but you can visit it for a short walk and enjoy its fountains.
Parque Hundido Luis G. Urbina
The Hundido park is a quite small park, near Insurgentes street. It has a nice big clock and some statues reminding of different times in Mexico. It is easy to access with Metrobus Line 1 (Red Line). You can get off at the Hundido Metrobus station. Around it, there are many coffee places and restaurants.
Vivero (Coyoacán)
Vivero park is a nice park for runners in Mexico City. It has straight tracks that you can use the whole day, and not so many visitors. You can go for exercise or just relax from the noisy city. In this park, you can find many friendly squirrels. It is very close to the Coyoacán neighborhood, which is famous for its architecture and cultural life.
Lincoln Park (Polanco)
Lincoln Park is a very narrow park, in the neighborhood of Polanco. It is a very nice park with water attractions, but you can quickly walk it all. It is a nice natural place, on the side of the expensive and popular Polanco. You can use it to rest after a whole day of shopping for expensive goods on the nearby streets.
Parque de los Venados
Sadly in the Parque de los Venados there are no deers. It is a medium-size park in Mexico City, near Benito Juarez municipality.
